Reactions after the victory

Of course there were nothing but happy faces in Anderlecht after the important victory against Standard Liège. Especially for Pär Zetterberg, who played his last game against Standard, it was a very special match.


"I usually don't miss a penalty. And just in this important game it happens", reacted Pär Zetterberg. "I don't have an excuse for it, I just kicked the ball very badly. Thank God I was able to score afterwards", he said. "The victory was a big relief, but we have to stay realistic and concentrated. We have to win against Ghent."

The Swedish midfielder was very clear about his future. "Still 180 minutes to go, and then it's finished. Of course it will be very difficult for me as soon as I hear the final whistle against Zulte Waregem."

"Mission accomplished", stated coach Franky Vercauteren. "We pressed Standard out of our way and won the game. But we have to stay focussed. The entire team played a good game, now this team has to win the title."

"It wasn't important to score myself, we just had to win", explained Grégory Pujol. "We deserved this victory because we were the best team."

Standard had too much respect for us, and that was an advantage", concluded Hannu Tihinen. "They just gave long passes, and that was easy for our defence. The title comes very close for us now."

"We were the only team that played football", stated Olivier Deschacht. "This is a relief, but we have to win the two next games."

"Standard couldn't handle the pressure", defied Bart Goor. "We are the best team. But if we don't win the next games, we don't deserve the title."

Goalkeeper Daniël Zitka made a great performance yesterday. "I hadn't expected to play this season, but I was relaxed. I've been playing here for four season, I know what I can and what I can't. Of course I was happy with the support of the fans. I know they like me."

The goalie is still unclear about his future. "I will consider my future after this season. I feel fine here and I am willing to sit on the bench. But I want guarantees on the long term then", he reacted.

"Zitka played a great game", said the injured Silvio Proto. "I supported him. He deserves this, he has always been very fair. Of course I feel bad that i can't play the rest of the season. But I will make a strong come-back, even though I don't know when", spoke Proto.
