After Celtic, Anderlecht now got defeated by Standard. That way, Standard are now second on 6 points. The final result in the Vanden Stock Stadium was 1-4. It had been 20 years that Standard could win in Brussels.

In the first half, both teams played at a high pace. Kaklamanos opened the score after a mistake of Kompany. Aruna missed the equaliser and a bit later it was even 0-2 when Mpenza scored after a pass of Moreira. Standard scored twice out of their only 2 chances.
Though Anderlecht came back when Mornar scored. a few minutes later, Aruna missed again. Meanwhile, Standard played on the counter attack with Moreira and Walasiak.

The game became dirty in the second half. A weak referee Allaerts made a curious decision when Moreira punched Baseggio: they both got a yellow card. Anderlecht tried to score, but the Standard defense played a strong game. On the counter attack, Walasiak and Kaklamanos scored. Final result: 1-4.
