Guy Thys is no more. Our national football monument lost his fight against cancer. He died in a hospital in Antwerp. On Thursday, his funeral takes place.

Thys himself only got 2 A-caps for the national team. He obtained his biggest successes as national coach. Under his lead, the Red Devils ended 4th on the World Cup of 1986 and 2nd on the European Championship.

"Staying active without any stress is the secret", he always said. A Savoir-vivre was Thys. He was never blasé or exuberant, always kind and friendly. A real Belgian for all. And let us not forget: he was the best national coach we ever had. He brought the Belgian football fame and glory...
