Belgacom has temporarily acquired the television rights of the Jupiler League, for a record amount of money of 36 million euros a year. That is 2,5 times as much as last time. The agreement is for a period of 3 years.

The current owners of the rights (RTBF, VTM, Be TV and Canal+) can make another offer until May 9, but that offer will have to be at least 10% higher than the offer Belgacom has made. Six candidates made a bid on the television rights.
