Belgian champions Anderlecht, who sacked coach Hugo Broos on Monday, suffered another blow as they lost 1-0 at home to bottom club Oostende.

The result deepens the crisis at the Brussels team now coached by former assistant Franky Vercauteren.

They remain 14 points behind leaders Club Bruges, who host Charleroi on Sunday.

Oostende went ahead through Marco Nijs in the 25th minute as he took advantage of an injury to Anderlecht central defender Hannu Tihinen, who was left laying on the ground.

Nijs was sent off in the 57th minute for a second booking but Oostende battled throughout the match, picking up seven other bookings.
