Today, there was a press conference on Anderlecht. Van Holsbeeck explained why the club sacked coach Hugo Broos. He started with the words: "The decision was hard for us, especially the human consequences of it."
"We are far from all our sportive objectives. We have to do everything to secure the second place in the leage. That way, we can obtain a ticket for the Champions League qualification round", continued Van Holsbeeck.
But the Anderlecht manager didn't blame Broos for all the bad things. "We noticed that the players were demotivated after the scoreless draw in Gent. We had to do something."
Anderlecht hope that Franky Vercauteren will get the team back on the tracks. "He has our full support", it sounded.
He also said something about Glen De Boeck: "All European top clubs have former-players involved in the decision making. We think it's a good idea to follow that trend. Especially when the player in question is motivated, like De Boeck."
