Neither Anderlecht nor Hugo Broos himself wanted to react on the events of the past 24 hours. The only one who wanted to comment the firing of Broos was Yves Vanderhaeghe. He regrets it happened, but he saw it coming of course.

"His credit wasn't unlimited and the last few bad results were responsible for his exemption. It's always a pity when trainers get fired. Broos always tried to do his best, until his last game."

Yves Vanderhaeghe calls the relationship between Broos and the players 'professional'. "We tried to follow his instructions", the midfielder reacted.

"I think the press exaggerated. Of course he suffered from that. To say it in football terms: they tackled the man, not the ball. Some comments on him were just unacceptable. But Broos always kept his dignity and did his job."

Vanderhaeghe regrets that the fans never gave Broos a real chance.
"But the players proved they were prepared to fight for him. We supported him."
