National coach Aimé Antheunis announced his selection for the friendly match against Egypt next week. Herpoel and Doll return after one year of absence, Vanderhaeghe after two years.
"I didn't select Vandehaeghe because of his age", said Antheunis with a wink. "But he plays well, so he can add something to this squad. There is a big chance that he will play. Doll is in good shape with Lokeren, and he can play both right and in the center of the defence."
Aimé Antheunis wants to place Vincent Kompany on the midfield. "I want to think about the future", he stated. "It is just an experiment. I don't do it because he doesn't play on that position in Anderlecht, nor to satisfy the press."
"I am convinced he can handle it. I only wonder whether he is 100% fit at the moment." Kompany will play with a defensive midfielder next to him.
