Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman has turned down a loan deal with Anderlecht because he wants to stay with his family in Scotland. That's what the English press reported today.

The 31-year-old Sweden international has been unable to gain a regular place in Martin O'Neill's squad this season prompting Anderlecht to make a move for the experienced custodian.

But although Hedman is aware his current situation at Celtic is far from ideal, he has rejected the Belgian club's offer because he is reluctant to leave his family behind.

"At the moment I'm out of the picture (at Celtic), but a loan deal is not the ideal solution for me. Then I would have to move away and leave my family behind in Glasgow. And I don't want to leave my family. I became a father again in November and I want to be at home with the children Some. things are more important than football", he said.

"I've been in talks with a couple of clubs and anything is possible," he continued. The only thing I'm interested in is a permanent transfer with a two-year deal."
