One day after the Gala of the Golden Shoe, winner Vincent Kompany gave a reaction. He talked about a possible transfer to a European topteam. But it seems like it isn't sure yet whether he will leave or not...

"I know that my performances will be criticised more and more. I can only hope that they will stay objective. Everyone has the right to give his opinion, and deserves respect."

"It's nice to know that I am a symbol for some people. It's a good feeling to know that people admire you. I look up to people like Pelé and Marcel Desailly, especially for their behaviour beside the pitch."

"Whether this trophee will change my future in Anderlecht? I don't know yet. I will decide that at the end of the season", said Kompany.
"I've played many years in Anderlecht, this is the team of my heart. I will ask the right people for advice, at the right time. I'm still 18 years old, I can still learn a lot. I can even learn in a match against a poor team."
"It's possible that I stay in Anderlecht. But if a European topteam offers me a spot in their team, I will be able to learn more there."

Though, it looks like Kompany will leave Belgium at the end of the season.
"I wasn't ready to make the step in 2003. Now, things have changed. I have made progression. I became stronger, and I'm more experienced. I know that I make mistakes, but everyone makes mistakes. I will go to Barcelona for a benefit match on 15 February. I won't talk about my Golden Shoe then. There are players there who have won much more than that."
