OTHER Although Anderlecht announced the arrival of Felice Mazzu tonight, there is apparently no agreement with Union on a fee yet. The city rival is now accusing Mazzu and Anderlecht of having used the infamous law of '78. Purple-White denies: "Mazzu just gave his notice like any normal employee."

"Felice Mazzù has informed us that he is terminating his contract with Union by the law of 3 July 1978," Union began its announcement on the official club website. "The club was informed by its coach in recent days that he was in talks with RSC Anderlecht. However, an agreement between the two clubs did not come to fruition. Today the coach informed us to give his notice."

"The club is stunned by this way of acting of both its coach and the record champion. We are now looking at what legal steps can be taken," Union let us know.

Anderlecht: "More than fair compensation".

Anderlecht already reacted to Union's allegations. "Anderlecht and Felice Mazzu are surprised and disappointed about Union's communication. Anderlecht has had constructive discussions with Union over the past few days about a more than fair redemption fee, but has not been able to reach an agreement for the time being."

"Pending such an agreement, Felice Mazzu has given his notice like any normal employee, nothing more and nothing less. This has absolutely nothing to do with a player taking advantage of the law of '78 to leave his club without a transfer fee."

"Anderlecht and Felice Mazzu regret that Union is bringing this negotiation to the public forum, but remain ready to reach a mutual agreement."
