YOUTH Amando Lapage has signed a professional contract with Anderlecht. The 17-year-old central defender put his signature on a deal until mid-2024. Lapage is a grandson of Paul Van Himst and plays regularly for the U21 team.

Lapage joined Anderlecht as a 7-year-old. "Amando was gradually transformed from a midfielder to a defender, a position where he can still surprise people," said Jean Kindermans, head of the youth academy. "He already possesses strong jumping power, anticipation and a good pass and still has an interesting margin for improvement."

Amando's older brother Youri Lapage also played for Anderlecht for a long time, but he didn't make it beyond the reserves. It remains to be seen whether Amando will be able to make the step to the first team. Father Lorenzo Lapage is a former professional cyclist and team manager.
