GAMES Sergio Gomez boosted his market value a little more yesterday. With a goal and two assists, the 21-year old Anderlecht player had a big share in the victory of the Spanish U21 against Lithuania. Amir Murillo and Joshua Zirkzee also played yesterday.

The Spanish U21 had no trouble with Lithuania. They won with 8-0. Gomez, who played on the right wing, scored the second goal after 35 minutes. Before the break, he added two more assists. On the hour, when it was 5-0, he was allowed to rest. With 18 out of 21, Spain is well on its way to qualify for the European Championship. There are still three duels to come.

The U21 of the Netherlands played a draw in Bulgaria. Zirkzee played the entire match. Bart Verbruggen stayed on the bench. The Netherlands now has 14 points out of 18.

Murillo (90 minutes) played with Panama 1-1 against Honduras. With two games to play, it drops to fifth place in the World Cup qualification. The direct tickets for the World Cup are as good as gone. Panama must try to jump over Costa Rica to fourth place next week. That gives the right to barrage matches.
