INTERVIEWS Due to Vincent Kompany's suspension, T2 Willem Weijs was not only allowed to coach the game, but he also had to take care of the post-match press conference. The Dutchman acknowledged that the game was poor before half-time. "On the ball it was very viscous, very slow," he said.
"In the first half we had to find our rhythm a bit. Apparently that took 45 minutes today," Weijs said. According to the T2, the players ran too long with the ball and made too many mistakes in handing over and taking the ball. Weijs was satisfied with the second half. "Fortunately, the tempo went up then and we had more running actions. That was enough to win."
Next week against Antwerp, Anderlecht will have to do better. "We will have had a full training week by then, without a cup game on Thursday," said Weijs, who is disappointed that Wesley Hoedt will be suspended. "That's not good, but we'll sort that out."
