OTHER Despite the recent capital increase, Anderlecht booked a loss of 29 million Euros again this year. According to CEO Peter Verbeke, bankruptcy was avoided thanks to the recent financial efforts of Marc Coucke, among others.

Verbeke says Anderlecht must continue to save on the sports and non-sports aspects of the club. The payroll has to go down, as does the cost of incoming transfers and the cost of agents. "The capital increase is a fact, but if we keep making big losses, we will need one again. We definitely want to avoid that," said Verbeke.

Within five years, Verbeke wants to be able to present positive numbers again. That means that Anderlecht will have to be economical with transfers and be (financially) creative, just like the past few years. He understands that the fans would like to see Anderlecht at the top again, but Verbeke also adds that you can also play champion and that the debts keep piling up.

The capital increase was necessary to avoid bankruptcy. He thanks in particular Marc Coucke who was able to avoid a disaster thanks to the financial concessions and efforts.
