INTERVIEWS Luc Nilis is currently head coach at Limburg's Belisia Bilzen. Yet he could just as well have worked for RSC Anderlecht, only the purple and white team failed to make him a decent financial proposal, causing Nilis to say no.

On Wednesday, Belisia will visit AA Gent for the Croky Cup. Following that game, Marc Degryse visited Nilis for an interview. There, his passage at RSC Anderlecht in December last year will be brought up again.

It was Wouter Vandenhaute who contacted Nilis to come and do a few weeks of training at Neerpede. If that turned out to be positive, a contract would be discussed. "When Wouter called, I was immediately enthusiastic, and later the feeling was mutual because after two weeks I received a proposal. The cooperation with Kompany was going well, so on a sporting level everything was going smoothly, only.... Let's say, if it had been a decent proposal financially, I would be working for RSC Anderlecht now."

So they parted ways and Nilis admits that he did get a mental slap at the time. Fortunately Vital Borkelmans came knocking with the rescue: Jordan.
