INTERVIEWS Vincent Kompany already looked ahead to Wednesday 27 October's cup match against La Louvière. "I do like cup competitions," Kompany begins his speech.

"I have won many cups. I've played games where we were better and yet lost or almost lost to third-tier players. I've also played cup matches where we went through with luck. In a cup match you always have to give everything. It's a chance to win a prize."

Sunday's match was also discussed, of course: "We have to put the finishing touches on. Against STVV it wasn't good, but the last bad match was in the return match against Vitesse. And anyway, a bad league start does not necessarily mean a bad end." Finally, Kompany also indicated that grabbing three points is the most important thing.

Tomorrow, Kompany will be sitting on the bench for the 50th time as coach of purple and white. And also there, the coach realizes that it is difficult: "This is the most difficult period in the history of the club. My balance sheet after 50 matches would have been very different if the situation had been as it was when I was a player here."
