Martinez charmed by Debast and "impressive" Lissens

OTHER The position of central defender is gradually becoming a problematic position for the Red Devils. So national coach Roberto Martinez is looking for succession. Two young Anderlecht defenders charm him: Lucas Lissens and Zeno Debast.


Of the four central defenders Martinez has called up, three have suffered injuries very recently. But there are not many alternatives. Boys like Bornauw and Vanheusden don't play much at their club. Martinez is also looking further ahead for follow-up in the future. In that context, he mentions four young defenders in an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws.

"I think Lucas Lissens is impressive, but he doesn't play for Anderlecht," said Martinez. Zeno Debast is still very young, barely 17 years old. The two other boys for the future that Martinez mentions are Arthur Theate (21 years, Bologna) and Fedde Leysen (18 years, PSV).
