Anderlecht crushed KV Mechelen on Sunday: 7-2!

GAMES Anderlecht and KV Mechelen delivered a spectacular match on Sunday with a 7-2 victory for the Mauves. With this victory, Anderlecht now have 10 points out of six matches. The score at half time was level (1-1), but Anderlecht completely overwhelmed Mechelen in the second half with six more goals.

The first half was totally different from the second, as KV Mechelen actually had the best chances. After two minutes, Van Crombrugge already had to save a good effort. Not much later, Schoofs hit the crossbar and also Walsh tried it with a header. Anderlecht weren't entirely absent in the match though and created danger on the counter attack through Raman and Refealov. 

A bit surprisingly, Anderlecht opened the score: Raman slipped through the offside trap and defeated goalkeeper Coucke with a shot in the bottom left corner: 1-0. KV Mechelen weren't impressed and continued to play good football. Storm equalised ten minutes later, but was caught offside. Not much later, he scored again after a defensive mistake of Gomez. His hard shot went in the right corner: 1-1 at half time.

The Mauves really needed to turn the tide in the second half and so they did. After 50 minutes of play, Kouamé was sent deep by Olsson. He worked his way past his defender and scored: 2-1. Anderlecht kept pushing forward now and not much later Kouamé scored again when Gomez found him at the second post. Not much later, Gomez delivered his second assist of the evening, when Murillo scored the 3-1. Four minutes later, Refealov also almost scored, but his hard shot struck the bar.

In the last 15 minutes, Anderlecht would score three more. First Amuzu was sent deep and he defeated goalkeeper Coucke. Not much later, Zirkzee brought Verschaeren alone in front of that same Coucke with a splendid pass. Verschaeren dribbled around the goalie and scored the 6-1. Zirkzee, found alone in the box, would score the seventh goal himself a few minutes later. In stoppage time, Kaya made KV Mechelen's second goal with a nice free kick.
