Finally some good news for the Belgian football: from the season 2006-2007 on, the Belgian champions will be qualified for the group stage of the Champions League, without playing a qualifying round.

Belgium is on the 9th position on the UEFA-ranking. This means that the country gets one participant to the Champions League and one team in the last qualifying round.

One team will be qualified directly for the Uefa-cup. The other one will only have to play one qualifying round.

But there is still a small chance that this scenario won't take place. Turkey forms a threath. Scotland ended with the same amount of points, but did worse than Belgium this year. Therefore, they are seeded 10th.

The Turkish Fenerbahçe has to score 8 points to keep Belgium away from the 9th spot. A victory is good for 2 points, a draw for one. Fenerbahçe meet Zaragoza and Austria Wien or Bilbao in the next two rounds.
