Anderlecht finally wins again

GAMES Anderlecht have answered after the very weak match last month in Beerschot. It won with 2-0. Beerschot offered little physical resistance after it was recently hit by many corona infections. Anderlecht missed a lot of (big) chances, but this time the opponent was too weak to take advantage of this problem.


Anderlecht started strongly and immediately grabbed Beerschot by the throat. Tau headed diagonally wide on a cross from Amuzu and Nmecha kicked half a meter over. Anderlecht was dominant, but Holzhauser showed on the other side that he can always cause danger. Sardella intervened, but Tissoudali had to leave the game injured after his intervention. After fifteen minutes, Anderlecht came close to the opening goal twice. Vanhamel save twice, first he prevented an own goal and then saved a shot from a distance from Lawrence. After the opening quarter, Anderlecht dropped the pace slightly.

After half an hour, Sardella gave the bal in front of the goal after a corner kick. Miazga's header was touched by Pietermaat with the elbow. The ball was placed on the penalty spot and Nmecha finished the job by placing the penalty neatly in goal. After that Mukairu had two more chances, but Beerschot also threatened for the first time, thanks to Wellenreuther who could not block a shot from Coulibaly. On the other side, Tau missed a very big chance to score the 2-0. The loaned player, who possibly played his last game for Anderlecht, was put alone in front of Vanhamel by Nmecha, but Tau clumsily placed the ball wide. Just before half-time, Nmecha hit Vanhamel's fists. Anderlecht deservedly went into halftime with a lead.

In minute 53 Nmecha gave the ball to Tau again, but the South African missed again. Anderlecht kept missing their chances. Amuzu tried twice at the far corner around the hour, but scoring remains so difficult for him. The same Amuzu cleverly served Mukairu, but his ball was saved by Vanhamel. Beerschot already did its fourth substitution in minute 65. The next to try it was Miazga. The American was free, but headed just wide. In minute 70, Mukairu was finally able to double the score. The Nigerian cleverly used his speed and punted the ball into goal under Vanhamel.

The most dangerous thing Anderlecht could do was fold back, but Beerschot was too weak to resist. Nmecha served Tau for the third time, but now the striker hit the outside of the post. In the added time, Noubissi squeezed past a few players, but his action stalled. In the very last seconds, substitute Dauda headed a good chance high.

Anderlecht kept the three points at home again and for the time being it climbs to fourth place in an admittedly incomplete classification. On to the deserved short winter break in which the board will hopefully also be able to make some transfers (both incoming and outgoing).
