GAMES Anderlecht beat Kortrijk on Friday with 1-3. The victory helps Anderlecht to close in on the top 4, certainly because Bruges and Standard lost their matches on Saturday and Sunday. The first position is just 3 points away, but Charleroi can make that 5 points, in case they win later on (the game is postponed due to corona).
Anderlecht took the lead after just 6 minutes of play: goalkeeper Jakubech blundered and Nmencha scored in the rebound: 0-1. Kortrijk reacted and after 15 minutes, Delcroix had to save an attempt from the goal line. Not much later, Van Crombrugge stopped Ocansey from scoring. Kortrijk dominated the match, but Anderlecht scored 0-2 thanks to Percy Tau's rush and shot from outside the box. Kortrijk had one last big chance before the break, but this time Miazga saved the ball from the goal line.
Kortrijk tried to turn the tide in the second half, but the chances were for Anderlecht. Nmencha's header wasn't hard enough and Verschaeren hit the crossbar with a volley. Jonckheere could have brought Kortrijk back into the match, but, left all alone in the box, his shot went over. It was Anderlecht that scored again though: Amuzu missed his shot, but Nmencha picked up the ball and scored his second of the evening: 0-3.
Nmencha had a chance to score his third a bit later, but missed. Also Verschaeren almost scored after a fast free kick. On the other side, D'Haene's effort hit the post when it deviated off Sambi Lokonga's body. Kortrijk eventually scored the 1-3 a few minutes before the end with an imaginary penalty. Cullen had, in a correct way, collected the ball from De Sart but the referee put the ball on the penalty spot. The VAR didn't respond. Mboyo made it 1-3, the final score.
