Barcelona go for Kompany

Barcelona are favourites to sign highly-rated Anderlecht defender Vincent Kompany after his agent revealed he had received an offer from them.

Jacques Liechtenstein was reacting to rumours that the 18-year-old is set to move to a Serie A club in the January transfer window.

"The most concrete offers we have received for Kompany have come from England and Barcelona," he explained.
"I want to categorically deny the ridiculous news that he is preparing to sign for an Italian club next month.
"We have never even spoken to an Italian club because he wants to stay at Anderlecht at least until the end of the current season and so do the club."
