TRANSFERS The flop transfer of last season is without a doubt, Samir Nasri. Contrary to popular belief, Vincent Kompany was reluctant to sign his former Manchester City teammate. "Charmain Marc Coucke wanted Nasri to sell more shirts," said a former employee of the club.

In Sport / Voetbalmagazine, the former Anderlecht employee sais that Nasri was only third or fourth choice for Kompany. "Kompany warned Coucke of the risks of Nasri's arrival: his peak was over, his mentality was bad and he was often injured", it sounds. "Kompany felt capable of coaching Nasri, but his arrival should certainly not be a priority."

According to the former employee, Kompany came up with other names, but they were much less known. "They weren't an option for Coucke. He needed Nasri to sell more shirts."

Nasri was never in top shape and only played 530 minutes in the league and cup together. In it he scored twice. Nasri's last match dates before October 4. His expiring contract was logically not renewed. The Frenchman has not yet found a new employer.

Sanneh

The Nasri file was not the first time that Coucke, as chairman, challenged the advice of the sporting staff. A year earlier, Luc Devroe and Hein Vanhaezebrouck tried to make it clear to him that Bubacarr Sanneh was not worth 8 million euros. "But Coucke wanted to make it big. Devroe was criticized for that transfer, but he did it under pressure from his boss."
