OTHER After more than ten years, David Steegen (photo) has stepped aside as Anderlecht's press officer. Steegen will be involved in strengthening the club's Brussels anchoring. Jan Gatz, 27, succeeds Steegen as spokesperson.

Steegen joined Anderlecht in 2009 as head of the communications department. He also took care of the press contacts. In November 2018, he passed the torch as press officer to Marie Verbeke for the first time. Steegen was then appointed Public Affairs Manager. He had to develop contacts with politicians, fans, TV channels and other partners. When Verbeke left barely a year later, Steegen also resumed his old duties.

Now Steegen passes the torch for a second time. Jan Gatz, 27, will be responsible for the press contacts from Thursday and will act as spokesperson for the club. Gatz studied at the VUB, followed a three-month internship at Anderlecht in 2015 and has been a spokesperson for Actiris, the Brussels employment agency, for the past three years. He was born and raised in Brussels and is the son of politician Sven Gatz.

Steegen does not leave Anderlecht. "As Head of Public Affairs, Steegen will enter into partnerships with local and regional partners to further develop Anderlecht's sporting, social and cultural responsibility in the capital," the press release said.
