OTHER The club Anderlecht still has to pay 800,000 euros to the municipality, a legacy from 2006. Mayor Eric Tomas is now increasing the pressure on the record champion. On Tuesday, he sent a reminder letter in order that Anderlecht would pay within a month.

When Anderlecht built their new training centre in Neerpede, an old, municipal banquet hall had to be demolished. The football club Anderlecht promised in exchange to pay one million euros to the city council to build a new banquet hall. 800,000 euros in advance and 200,000 after the construction of the hall.

In the meantime, we're 14 years later and the club hasn't still paid that 800,000 euros. "We should have received that amount a long time ago", mayor Tomas told at Bruzz. According to Tomas, the municipality and the club had a discussion about the amount in June last year. "And even afterwards we also regularly reminded them of the outstanding debt. On Tuesday, March 3, we therefore sent a letter of formal notivce that this amount would be settled within a month.

"Delay due to administration"
According to RSCA spokesperson David Steegen, the bill is still open because the new board was unaware at the time of the sale. "The administration that came with it has led to a delay in payment", says Steegen.

He also told that Anderlecht certainly will pay the amount. "Self-evident", he calls it. "We have a good relationship wit the municipality and want to keep it that way." Steegen says that the club is now talking to the municipality to arrange everything.
