GAMES Anderlecht played 1-1 after a good game in Ghent. After a strong first half hour the Purple & White scored via another goal from Colassin. Ghent immediately came aside through a penalty. In the second half both teams were given a few chances, but the necessary sharpness in finishing was lacking. Anderlecht delivered an excellent performance and remained at least the equivalent of Ghent until the end. Possibly an important point in the fight for play-off 1.

Both teams were hit hard at kick-off. Anderlecht missed almost half a team, Ghent started without Kums, Depoitre and Yaremchuk. Ghent started sloppy and Anderlecht took over the game after ten minutes. After a corner kick, which had come from a free kick of Zulj, Colassin cleverly headed in the 0-1. The VAR had to review the phase, but the goal was awarded. Anderlecht went ahead and Sardella shot just wide. When a fault was made on Vlap in the penalty area, there was no reaction from referee Alen.

Driven by a strong Zulj and Colassin, Anderlecht might have played its best half hour of this season until Niangbo rushed past Kana and the young player knocked him off unnecessarily in the penalty area. David did not miss from the spot. After that Ghent became more dangerous. Odjidja set himself free, but ran into a teammate. Anderlecht could threaten twice more. Doku made a good run, but his pass reached no one. Amuzu still encountered too much opposition in the penalty area.

The second half started messy, but balanced. A strong Doku invariably created danger from the left. Vlap came face to face with Kaminsky, but finished too faintly. The Dutchman was probably also sidelined. On the other side, the substitute Kvilitaia pushed forward, but no one could finish. Dejaegere, who also came in, had the best chance for Ghent, but he headed just wide. Doku served Vlap for the Purple & White, but Ngadeu was able to block the shot just in time.

The last ten minutes were nerve-racking, even though there were no longer any big opportunities. A breakthrough of Doku was stopped just in time by the returning David. The Canadian went for a rebound afterwards. Kvilitaia and Doku provided the final chance for each team.

Anderlecht won a well-deserved draw in Ghent, partly due to a strong first half hour. It played one of the better games of the season. It regularly caused danger and always kept control of the match, even though Ghent could occasionally threaten. Hopefully this point can contribute to participation in play-off 1.
