GAMES The Professional Refereeing Department has explained the VAR decisions during Anderlecht - Ghent and Anderlecht - Cercle Brugge. He correctly intervened in both the penalty for Ghent and Cercle's rejected goal.

On Thursday, Ghent received a penalty kick right before time, after an intervention of the VAR. "Player Cobbaut touches / plays the ball with his elbow, which is in an unnatural position (away from the body and therefore makes his body bigger). It was a correct VAR intervention and the referee's decision was correct to give a penalty", it sounds.

Yesterday against Cercle, the referee rejected Foster's equalizer after the VAR intervened. "The goalkeeper has the ball between his hands (the goalkeeper has control of the ball, as prescribed by the rules of the game, rule 12.2) when it is kicked into the goal by a Cercle attacker. The decision to reject the goal is a justified one decision, after a correct VAR intervention, it was very difficult for the referee to see this action live
