Ognjen Vranješ hasn't changed during his period in Athens. The Bosnian defender, currently active on rental basis at AEK Athens, was allowed to blow out 30 candles last week. And of course that had to be celebrated.

Vranješ went with some team mates to an Athenian nightclub. Nothing wrong with that of course, were it not for the fact that Vranješ had been singing less beautiful songs about rival Olympiakos. Oil on the fire, because a few days later the city derby against Olympiakos was on the menu.

The supporters of the 'Thrilos' took revenge by lifting a banner into the air on which Vranješ and singer Jelena Karleusa were depicted. Earlier this year, Karleusa accused Vranješ of threatening her with death. A film was also leaked showing a crying Vranješ.

The president of the Greek club is now considering taking sanctions against Vranješ, where they are also averse to the many antics of the Bosnian international. Vranješ was acquired in the summer of 2018 on the advice of Hein Vanhaezebroeck for 3.2 million euros from AEK Anthene. However, this was not a success story. Vranješ often made the headlines, in a negative way.

The central defender still has a commitment at Anderlecht up to and including the summer of 2022. Although there is little chance that he will ever wear the purple-white shirt again.
