GAMES Anderlecht lost 2-1 to Club Brugge yesterday. The figures suggest otherwise, but Anderlecht was was dominated in Jan Breydel. Hendrik Van Crombrugge played a world match and saved the purple-white from a much higher score.
The match started great for Anderlecht. Trebel with the deep ball, misunderstanding between Deli and Mignolet and Chadli benefited. Anderlecht took the lead after only five minutes. Unfortunately it didn't last long. Barely a minute later, Diatta hit the post. The Senegalese had all the luck in the world that the ball hit Van Crombrugge's back and ended up in goal: 1-1.
From then on the Bruges opportunity festival started. Anderlecht barely touched the ball and the center line couldn't get over it. Club dominated, but Van Crombrugge saved everything. The same story after the break. Van Crombrugge played like when he was at Eupen. Ball after ball came to his goal, but the keeper turned out to be a human wall.
At the hour, Luckassen suddenly had a great chance, but completely free, he kicked straight at Mignolet. Club Brugge finally got a pay for work twenty minutes before time. Van Crombrugge had no story against a hard shot of Diatta. The goalkeeper made sure that the score did not rise even higher.
A small defeat, but whoever saw the match cannot but decide that Anderlecht still has a long way to go. Vincent Kompany must also have seen that.
