GAMES Anderlecht have lost the top game in Genk with 1-0 after a good first and again a less good second half. To make matters worse, Sandler and Kompany were injured. Standard is waiting next week.

Anderlecht took the game in hands after ten minutes. That resulted in good field play, but hardly in chances. The Purple & White were also unable to score from five corners. Amuzu popped over once, Verschaeren and Chadli kicked too softly alongside and Vlap laid a ball on the roof of the goal. Genk could hardly threaten, only the Japanese Ito was sometimes dangerous

Anderlecht started well in the second half, but after 53 minutes the Genk offensive started. Samatta, after pressure from the home team, completed an attack and the top scorer was able to score against Van Crombrugge. The goalkeeper was then able to save some shots. Anderlecht were forced to change their central axis in the back due to injuries, but still came back in the game. Cobbaut and the well-placed Adzic were still a danger, but some luck was missing, just like in the previous games. Samatta missed a big chance in the last minute after a mistake from Van Crombrugge.

This match resembled the previous games again: a good first half, followed by a less good second half. Nice football, but up to the opponent's penalty area. There is clearly a lack of impact, efficiency and realism.

Next week another top game is waiting, now at home against Standard. Wait and see what it will be with the injuries of Sandler and Kompany.
