OTHER Anderlecht held a press conference yesterday afternoon concerning the name change from the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium to Lotto Park.

The press conference was organized in the stadium. Jo Van Biesbroeck (CEO Anderlecht), David Steegen (public affairs) and Bénédicte Lobelle (marketing manager for Lotto) addressed the press. The long and rich history of the stadium, often also called the Astridpark, was shown in a nice video.

CEO Van Biesbroeck realizes that the name change is sensitive to the supporters, but adds that time does not stand still. "Linking the name of a stadium to that of a well-known brand name is a trend that has been occurring in Europe for years," says Van Biesbroeck.

Steegen emphasized that without partners like Lotto, Anderlecht would not be able to bring Kompany back or to attract new players such as Vlap and Nasri. The cooperation with the partners also helps Anderlecht to train talents and to keep them with Purple & White for longer.

On July 14 the new name of the stadium will be officially inaugurated during the fan day. The number 35 will be given a nice place in the new Lotto Park logo.
