INTERVIEWS With a catchy video, Anderlecht announced the return of Vincent Kompany as player-trainer. The group of players had to hear the news in the same way as the outside world. "We heard it through the press. No one from the board has said anything yet," said captain Sven Kums after the game against Ghent.

"At the start of my career I trained with him for a while. Since then he has built a huge career," says Kums in front of the microphone of Sporza. "Hopefully he can transfer his experience to the group. I also expect a lot from him as a trainer. On the field you already saw that he is a leader. He will certainly be that as a trainer."

According to Kums, the arrival of Kompany is great news. "We need someone with such leadership and other qualities. What else needs to be added? That is not up to me to judge. Kompany has to do that together with the sporting staff. But I think something needs to be added. The arrival of Kompany will be an advantage. The prospect of cooperating with such a person will open doors. "

"We were the least of the six"

With the arrival of Kompany, we would almost forget that Anderlecht closed Play-Off 1 with a loss and thus ends in last place. "If you close the playoffs last, you are simply the least of the six," said Kums.

"This defeat is coming hard. We wanted to win today and maybe even go into Europe. Unfortunately that did not happen. As a group we also talk about Anderlecht not playing European for the first time in 56 years. Everyone is disappointed. Everyone realizes that it was not good enough this year and it has to be much better next year. "
