The Dutch minister of Foreign Affairs, Ben Bot, wants a competition over the borders between Dutch and Belgian teams, a Benecup.

He said that during a Belgian-Dutch meeting in Den Haag. "Such a competition will be a metaphore for the collaboration between the two countries. The Benecup might convince the people of both countries to show some interest for each other."
Friday, the Dutch Football Association had announced they didn't want a Benecup anymore.

Ben Bot talked to Karel De Gucht, the Belgian minister of Foreign Affairs, to exchange ideas. But they are not allowed to deal with sports affairs.
Bot realises that, but he thinks a Benecup would be a good case for both countries. "The teams have to get more possibilities in order to defend themselves against the rich teams in the big European competitions."
"Imagine matches like Club-Ajax or Anderlecht-Feyenoord", said the minister. Bot even wants the Tour of Flanders to come to the Netherlands.
