Presentation: Evgen Makarenko

TRANSFERS Although the transfer market is not officially open yet, Anderlecht already realized a lot of transfers. We introduce them to you extensively. Today: Evgen Makarenko.

Makarenko went through the youth series of Dynamo Kiev, where in the summer of 2013 he was taken in the first team. He landed in the staring eleven fairly quickly. On the left back, though.

The three following seasons, however, things evolved a lot less for Makarenko. In January 2017, his expiring contract was not renewed. Makarenko would eventually be without a club for eight months. In August he signed for KV Kortrijk.

In the Guldensporenstadium, Makarenko also functioned as left back. After a weak performance on the field of Anderlecht in December (4-0 loss), Glen De Boeck found it enough and put the Ukrainian on the midfield.

There, Makarenko exploded. Together with Teddy Chevalier he led Kortrijk to the final of Play-off II. In the beginning of March he was already called 'too good for Belgium' by analysts.

That has also been noticed by two subtoppers from the Bundesliga. Anderlecht, however, were ahead of them and used the clause in his contract of 1.2 million euros.

The left-footed Makarenko has a lot of technical skills. He is easy to play, ball-proof and finds the football-playing solution under pressure. At Kortrijk wasn't good enough on the left back, but in a system with three defenders he basically also should be able to play on the left wing.

Originally, Makarenko seemed to be the replacement for Adrien Trebel, but that is not the case. Anderlecht tries to keep the Frenchman and Luc Devroe already stated that a substitute will be attracted if he leaves.

Whether Makarenko is complementary with Kums or Trebel, will have to be seen. Perhaps he starts the season as a substitute.

Makarenko is not the top transfer of the summer, but seems to be an excellent acquisition. Especially for 1.2 million euros.
