"Unsuccessful mercato caused doubt amongst players"

INTERVIEWS Not only coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck and the fans watched with disbelief how Anderlecht could hardly do anything during the mercato in January, this also led to doubts within the group of players. That is what Pieter Gerkens tells today in Sport / Voetbalmagazine.


"You can not say that the transfer period has been successful for us", says Gerkens. According to him, the players assumed that the necessary reinforcements would come. "We saw good players leave and automatically you think that others will come to replace them."

This hardly happened and that had its impact. "During the transfer period we felt that there was some disagreement within the club, which made the team doubt."
