Belgian U19 loses despite goal Bornauw

YOUTH The Belgian U19 lost their first game in the elite round for the European Championship this summer. Against France, the young Devils led with 2-0, but in the last ten minutes they gave the victory away.


After 7 minutes, Belgium took the lead. Thibaud Verlinden (Sankt-Pauli) opened the score after an assist from Alexis Saelemaekers. Shortly after the break Sebastiaan Bornauw doubled the score. The decisive pass came from Mike Ndayishimiye. Ten minutes before time, France succeeded the 2-1. Afterwards two French goals followed, so Belgium lost its first game.

Anderlecht players Bornauw, Saelemaekers, Ndayishimiye, Francis Amuzu and Albert Sambi Lokonga started in the starting eleven. Milan Corryn replaced Ndayishimiye after 81 minutes and Sieben Dewaele came on the field in minute 85.
