TRANSFERS With Lazar Markovic, the duo Herman Van Holsbeeck - Mogi Bayat finally managed to realize a transfer on the final day of the transfer period. His profile is completely in line with the 'top transfers' of the previous winter mercato's: top club, didn't play this season and already several loan periods behind us.

Markovic is a product from the famous youth academy of Partizan Belgrade. At Partizan, Markovic broke through as a 17-year-old in the 2011-2012 season. After two years he went to Benfica for ten million euros. As a 19-year old, the right flank attacker scored five times in 26 league matches. This got him a transfer to Liverpool.

The Reds paid 25 million euros, but it was not a success. In his first season in England, Markovic collected eleven places in the starting eleven in the Premier League. He scored twice. In the next season Liverpool sent Markovic on loan for a first time. He went to Fenerbahçe. Ten basic places, four games as a substitute and zero goals later he returned.

Then, Liverpool sent him on loan to Sporting Lisbon. That too was not a success. Barely 205 minutes of play he collected in the competition, as a result of a serious injury. Markovic' only successful loan was last season after the winter break. At Hull he collected twelve places in the starting eleven in the Premier League and scored twice. This season, Markovic did not get more than 63 official minutes ... at Liverpool's U21.

Markovic played 24 international games for Serbia. The last one dates from November 2016.
