Silvio Proto has been operated successfully at the arm. The goalkeeper suffered a fracture of the arm in the game against Lokeren after a contact with De Pauw. He will miss the World Cup due to this injury.

Proto will be out for at least 3 months. "The fracture has to heal first before Proto can start rehabilitating", a representative said.

Meanwhile, Lokeren and De Pauw already apologised to Proto. "Football is a contact sport, but we never meant to cause any injuries. We regret Proto's long inactivity and the fact he'll miss the World Cup because of this injury only makes it worse. Sorry Silvio!", we can ready on Lokeren's website.

Also after the incident and right before the start of the celebrations, De Pauw already apologised to Proto.
