Anderlecht celebrated their 33rd title. After a bad season and excellent play-offs, the Mauves are now also directly qualified for the group phase of the Champions League. The title came unexpectedly, so the celebration was wild.

The game against Lokeren was sold out, but many fans without a ticket came to the stadium anyway. The largest parking in the area was completely full and many parked double. Around the stadium, all bars were packed with people so many couldn't even see the match. During the match, the celebrations in the streets already started. Right after the last whistle, the fans stormed the field. Outside the stadium, fans started the climb over the fences until the club wisely decided to open the gates. People flooded in to participate in the celebrations.

The stadium speaker requested the fans to return to their seats, without any luck. When representatives of the fans and DJ Vinz repeated the request, more fans started to return to their places. The players eventually reappeared on the field and started celebrating. This led to a second pitch invasion with more delays as a result.

After one hour the players were finally able to show the Jupiler League Pro cup to the fans. Earlier, they had already lifted the cup from the tribunes, while the fans were on the field. The cup had been brought by helicopter to Brussels. For safety reasons, the fireworks had been cancelled. The celebrations continued for many hours around the stadium.

Anderlecht-Online will bring you images from inside and around the stadium in the next few hours. Keep an eye on our video and photo page or follow us on Flickr and YouTube.
