Old ankle injury keeps Deschacht off the field.

No Olivier Deschacht against Cercle Brugge. The left back’s ankle hurt too much. “Together with Oli we decided to give him some rest,” says coach John van den Brom.

Since a couple of weeks Deschacht has some troubles with his ankle again. Three years ago this ankle kept him from playing for about eight months. After removing some scar tissue he could play without pain. But now the injury is back again.

Wednesday against Benfica Deschacht got an injection to play without pain, but the doctors aren’t keen on doing this again.
“There are too much games in too little time, that’s why we don’t want to take any risks,” so the doctors say.
Anderlecht and Deschacht hope rest will solve the problem.
