GAMES Anderlecht easily qualified for the quarter finals of the Europa League. The Mauves beat APOEL Nicosia with 1-0, after also winning the first leg with 0-1. The Mauves had a handful of excellent chances, but could only score once. APOEL only threatened goalkeeper Rubén once, shortly before the end of the match.

Anderlecht took an impressive start and completely walked over the visitors. After just five minutes, the Mauves had already had two open chances: Tielemans appeared alone in front of keeper Waterman, but made to wrong choice by passing to Teodorczyk who was caught offside. A minute later, the Pole has in scoring position again but Waterman saved. Goalkeeper Waterman was the best man on the field for the visitors and also saved shots of Stanciu and Tielemans.

The visitors couldn't threaten Anderlecht keeper Rubén once. During the entire match, they needed a lot of fouls (30 in total!) to stop Anderlecht's offensive might. The only time APOEL managed to put Rubén to work, was when the game was already lost for them: 10 minutes before the end, with a shot from distance. Meanwhile, Anderlecht had also dominated the second half with Acheampong scoring after 66 minutes. The match remained on a 1-0 score - more than enough for Anderlecht - though they could have scored at least five...
