Anderlecht started with Tielemans in the team for Milivojevic. With the suspension of Mitrovic, the Mauves played in a 4-3-3 formation again, so also Praet returned into the team.
The first half was weak. Anderlecht could not keep the ball into the team, played at a low pace and had no chances. N'Sakala even had to prevent the visitors from scoring with an ultimate tackle.
The second half started with Anderlecht playing at a higher pace. The pressure mounted and Lierse had to limit themselves to defending and counter attacking. Mbemba prevented the 0-1 by heading the ball out of the goal. Meanwhile, Anderlecht had had several opportunities, but goalkeeper Goris and the upright kept them from scoring.
After one hour of play, Gillet could open the score after a scrimmage in front of the goal. Suddenly Anderlecht started playing better, also because Lierse gave away more space. When Bruno broke through on the right wing, he offered Dennis Praet the 2-0.
