GAMES It's almost a yearly tradition: the early elimination in the Belgian Cup. And it happened also this year. After extra time, the score line was still in balance (2-2) and a penalty shoot out decided over Anderlecht's faith. Charleroi qualified for the next round.

Coach Weiler changed his team on many positions. The most remarkable change was putting Teodorzcyk on the bench for Kabasele. Also Roef took his place in the goal again instead of Boeckx.

The match started bad for the Mauves. Damien Marcq scored after 4 minutes of play with a volley. Anderlecht rapidly restored the balance in the match and quickly equalised when Spajic headed the 1-1 on the score board. Slowly but surely, Charleroi started to dominate without creating a lot of chances.

At the beginning of the second half, Roef prevented more damage with a good safe, but also Anderlecht had a few chances in an intense match. Nine minutes before the end, Teodorzcyk (who had replace the weak Kabasele) scored the 1-2. Minutes later, Bruno had the opportunity to score the 1-3 but he failed inexplicably in front of an empty goal. In the very last second, Charleroi equalised (in an offside position) on a corner kick: 2-2.

Extra time had to decide over the winner. Charleroi dominated the entire extra 30 minutes, but Roef, some luck and the post kept them from scoring. Eventually a penalty shoot out decided over Anderlecht's faith: Roef never came close to stopping a penalty. Charleroi's Mandanda did better and saved Teodorzcyk's penalty. Anderlecht eliminated.
