Anderlecht beat KV Mechelen with 1-0

Anderlecht defeated KV Mechelen on Saturday with 1-0. Tom De Sutter scored the only goal of the match. Because of the defeat of Zulte Waregem, the gap between the number one and two is now six points again.


Mechelen came to Anderlecht with a scoreless draw in their minds. They kept most of their players in defensive positions while Anderlecht tried to combine through their defence. In the first half, it didn't result in many chances though. Kljestan and De Sutter had the best chances. But a scoreless draw was logical at half time.

In the second half, De Sutter scored right at the moment the pace was dropping. Vargas, who had replaced Bruno at half time, gave the assist. When Suarez made is comeback after a long injury, the pace went up again. Kljestan, De Sutter and especially De Zeeuw had excellent chances to increase the lead, but failed to do so. Therefore, the home defence had to be careful until the last second.
