GAMES Sporting Club Anderlecht opened the season with a 1-2 victory against Mouscron. Anderlecht started with an experimental team, without Defour but with Doumbia. Hanni had to take the position of striker instead of Sylla. Okaka, sent to the reserves, was also suspended. De Maio became captain for his match, and played alongside Kara (instead of Nuytinck).

Anderlecht dominated most of the match, but was never impressive. The team moved the ball around and was less static than last season, but the routines are still missing. Hanni and Chipciu had the first chances for the Mauves, but goalkeeper Vagner saved their attempts. On a counter attack, Markovic ran past N'Sakala and his hard shot went over goalkeeper Roef into the goal: 1-0. The Mauves could not react anymore before half time.

After ten minutes into the second half, N'Sakala was replaced by Sylla, a striker who immediately created more danger. Not much later, it was Anderlecht's turn to counter attack. Chipciu received the ball and eliminated his opponent before sending Acheampong deep. The Ghanese winger was faster than his defender and scored: 1-1. Two minutes later, the visitors even took the lead. Hanni centred from the left wing and Sylla pushed the ball against the net: 1-2. Defour and Sylla could have scored the third goal, but the score line remained unchanged.
