Anderlecht got eliminated in the Cup after winning the 1st leg with 1-0. Racing Genk scored, after an idiotic red card of Mbokani, via Jelle Vossen. Eventually the Mauves lost in a historical penalty shoot out with 8-7.

Anderlecht had everything under control until a red card for Mbokani early in the second half. The Congolese got frustrated by the harsh defending of Simaeys and took revenge with a light kick: red. Before that, Genk had more ball possession but only created two chances. It was the ideal situation for the visitors that tried to counter attack. Yet these attempts were unsuccessful due to many bad passes. Mbokani scored in the first half but was caught offside.

After that red card, pressure mounted and Vossen rapidly scored. From then on, both sides speculated on the extra time. Anderlecht came close to scoring when Wasilewski hit the upright. De Sutter appeared alone before Köteles, opened for Gillet but Koulibaly saved with a tackle.

So it came to penalties. Biglia hit the crossbar, Jovanovic the post and Odoi even missed the goal. Proto saved three penalties of Genk and missed the decisive one himself: 8-7 after 20 penalties...
