Anderlecht beat Racing Genk in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Cup. The Mauves won with 1-0 thanks to a goal of Jovanovic. Gillet missed, once more, a penalty.

Anderlecht played weak. Biglia and De Zeeuw are physically not yet at their best and had problems with the strong midfield of Racing Genk. So it wasn't unlogical that Genk dominated the first 20 minutes. Proto kept them from scoring though.

But after a blunder in the visiting defence, Jovanovic scored. Anderlecht took control over the match and could knock out Genk completely from the penalty spot. Jovanovic benefited from a misunderstanding in the defence and was brought down in the box: red card and penalty. Gillet missed penalty number 9 out of 13...

The second half was boring. Anderlecht had two more excellent chances but couldn't score. Overall, the pace was too low to threaten a good defensive block of Genk. That way, the Brussels' team goes with a one goal bonus to the Cristal Arena on March 2.
