Anderlecht qualified for the next round of the Belgian Cup. The Mauves beat KV Mechelen yesterday with 2-0 after extra time. The next round will be played in two legs.

Anderlecht proved to be better than KV Mechelen. The Brussels' club had more ball possession and created more chances, especially in the first 20 minutes of the match. Kouyate was twice close to a goal with an effort saved on the line and a header on the crossbar. De Sutter's header went on the upright. Then the pace dropped, but Mechelen couldn't really threaten Anderlecht.

In the second half, Kljestan and Safari had excellent opportunities. Close before the end of the game, also De Sutter could have scored when he appeared alone in front of the goalkeeper. Also the visitors could have decided the match but Kaminski stopped Cordaro from scoring.

In extra time not much happened until minute 110: Praet took a corner kick which went directly into the goal. Mechelen couldn't react anymore and was completely knocked-out by Mbokani who lifted the ball over Biebauw in the last minute: 2-0.
