Anderlecht put the second ranked AA Gent on nine points after an easy victory last night. The Mauves beat their nearest competitor with 3-1. Two goals of Jovanovic brought Anderlecht ahead, after Jorgensen had opened the score.

Suarez finished the job late in the second half: 3-1.

Anderlecht started with offensive intentions, but some carelessness in the passes prevented the home side from creating open chances in the first ten minutes. The Mauves monopolized the ball though; yet Gent managed to score first. A mistake in the defence allowed Jorgensen to appear alone in front of Proto. Despite the return of Juhasz, the striker managed to place the ball next to the Anderlecht goalie: 0-1.

It took Anderlecht a few minutes to recoved from that blow. But soon, the Brussels' team pinned down their competitors inside their own box. Mbokani's effort was saved by goalie Padt. And also Suarez and Jovanovic tested the keeper.

The goal fell after a series of corner kicks. Padt pushed the ball outside his box, Jovanovic recovered the ball and placed it from a distance of 25 meters perfectly into the goal: 1-1.

The visitors were overwhelmed by Anderlecht's pressure, that kept on looking for a second goal. Again Suarez, Mbokani and Jovanovic proved to be too much to handle for their defence. When Padt saved a hard shot of Suarez, Jovanovic could easily score the rebound: 2-1. Just a minute before, Anderlecht escaped a new setback when Jorgensen, alone in front of Proto, was flagged for offside.

The pressure kept on mounting until the whistle for half-time. Mbokani came close to scoring the third for Anderlecht, but goalkeeper Padt stopped the shot aimed at the right upper corner.

After the break, the pace was lower. Anderlecht had the game firmly into their hands and didn't allow any danger from their opponents. Gillet was stopped by an excellent Sergio Padt. Also Suarez and Mbokani found the Dutchman on their way towards the goal. Eventually, Suarez succeeded in securing the victory. He controlled the ball on the chest, turned and placed the ball in one time into the left bottom corner of the goal: 3-1 with just five minutes remaining...
